Consumer Reports Ranks Kia Sportage Above All Small CUVs

In the latest ratings by Consumer Reports, the new 2011 Kia Sportage is ranked better than its competition from Nissan with the Juke and Mitsubishi’s Outlander Sport. I’m kind of surprised they didn’t rank the Honda CR-V or the Toyota Rav4. But that doesn’t really matter, because the Sportage would have beaten them, too.

In my review of the Kia Sportage, I said that it wasn’t the best CUV, but it was definitely worth a second look over the other cars in its class.

CR obviously agrees with this themselves, saying the Outlander Sport isn’t enough unlike the regular Outlander; and the Nissan Juke being too much of a compromise for space and luxury, whereas the Sportage is not much of a sacrifice. Both CR and I have said that the Kia Sportage is a little too stiff at times, but it still bridges the gap between car and SUV quite nicely.

So you’ve heard it here, and now from Consumer Reports: If you want a good crossover/sport utility vehicle, go get yourself a 2011 Kia Sportage and don’t be disappointed.
