Your opinion is not wrong, that’s why it’s called an opinion… However, looking at sales numbers, reliably, resale value, safety, and all the other reasons people buy cars, the Lexus certainly is not an inferior vehicle. I think you are going a little to far in criticizing the lexus, an instant success from the day it was released. I have nothing against the new 7, intact I tripped and almost fell the first time I saw one in a parking lot… Just don’t bash such a well made car

LOL…folks who are ‘passionate’ about BMW and other German cars are a bit illogical. The 7 series, ranked by any magazine or pro, is essentially a piece of garbage. No offense to BMW, because it’s 3-series quality is great. But the 7-series? “Well Below Average” as far as quality.

Folks talk about ‘engaging’ and ‘racing’ these cars, as if you’re really ‘racing’ or ‘feeling the road’. You’re NOT. If you wanted that, you’d spend more (or less) on a two door. Big cars are supposed to get you there comfortabley, fast and with quality that befits their hefty price. Anything else is marketing merde.

Face it…Lexus, and Japanese cars in general, are higher quality. Period. With FOUR DOORS, that’s what the typical buyer wants.

Once again, readers are calling out this bullshit trying to pass itself off as “good journalism,” Josh, I suggest you go back to being a car salesman.

I’ll take my E60 over the GS any day but if I were in the market for a bigger car, I’d take the LS over the 7, hands down.

BMW’s dedication to performance does not extend to the 7-series, and any efforts that you want to convince yourself that they infuse into the 7-series is an utter fallacy. Even if BMW were amateurish enough to attempt pursuing the same “I drive myself” driving experience as in their sportier offerings, it would simply be suffering a severe identity crisis: supple luxury versus responsive performance. Sportiness isn’t even a criterion in upmarket full-size luxury saloons, and you’ve negated your own argument when BMW actually produces a long-wheelbase option *specifically* for chauffeur. Furthermore, your editorial neutrality is completely compromised when you construct your thesis around praising an automaker when you are supposed to form unbiased comparisons. If somebody wanted a fantastically underdeveloped, unbalanced opinion, such as yours, they would have asked uninformed kids in any suburb. You’ve even confessed that you’ve never liked Far Eastern imports– a plea that has done everything to counteract your neutrality. I highly doubt you are professionally employed to write this bullshit; who the hell would want to hire somebody who is only going to make accusations?

Well, that’s kind of the point. The Lexus, much like a Mercedes-Benz, is a put the car in drive and go type of vehicle. It doesn’t have the abilities that the BMW does to put a smile on your face. Where the Lexus may be the cheaper man’s limousine, the BMW is the one where you say, “Screw the driver, I drive myself!” It gives you that feeling that you are in command much more than the others. You have more of a sporty presence and feeling, too. Something about BMWs scream passion, whereas the Lexus’s, well, they scream passionless pursuit. Lexus lays claim to “The Pursuit of Passion” in a few of their ads. That’s just not true… You can like and love the Lexus. I won’t judge you. But, when you take a drive in the new 7… Well, I’ll wait to see and hear your reaction to perfection.

it is far better than lexus..
its front kidney grill and interior is outstanding
my comment about bmw is 99 percent and for lexus is 75 percent

Lexus is a satellite guided cruise missle. BMW looks like a piece of junk wood you threw in those pre-civilization wars. just a true thought on the first impression. yeah, you are right, all japanese cars copied the four-wheel design, maybe that was from BMW?

Congratulations on driving a 5-Series, Calvin. I’ve seen both in person, as well. Remember, this is what I do for a living… I’ve studied both designs to try and come up with the best reasoning on both cars.

The Lexus LS is a decent car, but it’s nothing like a BMW. The interior is not of very good quality, in my opinion. Before I was even a BMW nut, like I am now, I still hated their interiors. Korean and Japanese automakers have the cheesiest interiors. I used to sell Kia, Hyundai, Lexus, Toyota, Infiniti, Nissan, and the likes, when I was a car salesman. They smell weird after a certain period of time, and they just never looked that great to me. The feeling was off, too.

I’m not saying that BMWs are the best interiors in the world, they are far from it. But, they are worlds better than a Lexus…

Obviously, though, you didn’t really pay much attention to the actual details. It seems from your writing that you just saw a critical article and decided to say whatever…

I’m not a fan boy, I just have good taste. Maybe you will too, one day.
